紧急 Preparedness Program

Public Health threats can be caused by 自然, 意外, or 故意的意思. The purpose of the 紧急 Preparedness Program is to strengthen and enhance the capability of the community to prepare for, respond to and recover from health related threats. The all hazards threat planning approach is accomplished by working with 当地的, 区域, 状态. A coordinated approach to preparing for and responding to health-related emergencies increases efficiency by leveraging resources. 

To ensure public health is prepared for all types of hazardous threats, the health department does the following:

  • Check on and assist your friends, family, or neighbors if you can do so safely.
  • Follow the advice and guidance of officials in charge of the event.

Preparing for Severe Weather: Summer

酷热 can cause heat-related illnesses like heat exhaustion and heat stroke.  More than 600 people in the United States are killed by extreme heat every year. Read below for helpful tips and information on staying safe this summer.

  • High body temperature (103F or higher)

怎么做:

  • 立即拨打911. Heat stroke is a medical emergency
  • Move the person to a cooler place
  • Help lower the person's temperature with cool cloths or a cool bath
  • Do not give the person anything to drink

注意事项: 

  • 大量出汗
  • 皮肤冰冷、苍白、潮湿
  • 快、弱脉冲
  • 恶心或呕吐
  • 肌肉痉挛
  • 疲劳或虚弱
  • 头晕
  • 头疼
  • 昏厥(昏倒)

怎么做:

  • 搬到一个凉爽的地方
  • 松开你的衣服
  • Put cool, wet cloths on your body or take a cool bath
  • 喝的水
  • Get medical help right away if:
    • 你在呕吐
    • 你的症状越来越严重
    • Your symptoms last longer than 1 hour
热痉挛

注意事项: 

  • 大量出汗 during intense exercise
  • 肌肉疼痛或痉挛

怎么做:

  • Stop physical exercise and move to a cool place
  • Drink water or a sports drink
  • Wait for cramps to go away before you do any more physical activity
  • Get medical help right away if:
    • Cramps last longer than 1 hour
