The Environmental Health Division promotes and protects public health through mandated inspections and the enforcement of local and state public health laws, rules and regulations. 

Registered Environmental Health Specialists (REHS) are authorized by the North Carolina Division of Environmental Health and registered by the North Carolina State Board of Registered Environmental Health Specialists to enforce State rules and regulations.
